Hi bookish friends,
As you all know I’m participating in POPSUGAR Reading Challenge AGAIN this year, after failing it in the last couple of years. Thanks to my father, I’m not the type who gives up. He used to say when I was a kid,
“Lili, you gotta try and try and try until….
you TRY AGAIN.”
Thanks Pa.
Wait a minute! Something is wrong with his advice. Don’t you think so? hehehe.. I love you Pa.
Anyways, I’m very proud to share to you guys that as of this day, out of 40 categories(50 if you include the ADVANCE categories), I‘ve already cut out Five (5) categories. For me, that’s a big leap.
Yeah, thank you so much my ex-boyfriend, Ryan and my other famous friends. 🙂 🙂 🙂
If you want to know more about this challenge, check out This Site.
So here are the categories I just slashed out:
*Click the titles to read my reviews.
1. A Book made into Movie You’ve already Seen
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
I’ve watched the movie years ago and enjoyed it so when I saw my copy of this particular book in the farthest corner of my shelf, along with other children’s books, I thought why not. Though I didn’t give it a perfect five star, it was quite a great, enjoyable read. 🙂
2. A Book with a Time of Day in the Title
After the Night by Linda Howard
Like the previous, this is also an accidental read and mind you a reread one. I picked this one up while cleaning my shelf. One of the reasons why i clean shelves weekly is to give the books themselves to tempt me to read them, and this one definitely tempted me, which i’m thankful of, because I really enjoyed reading this one. I definitely and highly recommend this to those who love jerk heroes who you can’t help but fall in love. 🙂 🙂 🙂 And strong set of characters with great plot.
3. A Book with Characters who are Twins.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Actually, The Cruel Prince fit in few categories but for now, let me put it under a book with twins. The main heroine has a twin sister whom I really didn’t like. I meant the twin, okay? I love the heroine.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Note: the list might change as I go along the challenge.
4. A Book by a Local Author
Demons of the New Year (An Anthology of Horror Fiction from The Philippines)
Yes it is an Anthology and yes it’s from the Philippines where I live. I chose this, first, because of its cover, I liked it. Second, it’s a collection of horror (though I was disappointed). And third, it was short. 🙂
Anyway, you guys might like this though I didn’t much. Kindly read my review.
5. A Childhood Classic You’ve Never Read.
Out of million of Childhood classics out there, I chose this. I read somewhere how influential this book is/was. This was really a good read and I was glad I picked this up. It was heartwarming as it is heartbreaking. It has a powerful lesson/message so it wasn’t surprising that it was very influential.
Yehey!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 35 Categories more to go. I mean 45. I need more coffee.
How about you guys? How are your Reading Challenges so far? And are you doing this challenge too? Let me know. 🙂
Chat, chat chat/…
Happy Reading.
Phew that sounds like quite the tough challenge. But, already 5 categories down and only what 35, erm 45 more to go? You can do this! Or as Yoda would say: ” Do, or do not…there is no try 😂😂”
Goodluck, and may I say that you have really made a fun post for this challenge? 😊

If I’m remembering well, I copied some books from your list as I was too lazy to research titles that would fit the categories. Hahaha. 🙂 🙂 Goodluck to us.
