5-Star TBR Prediction (May 2019 Book Releases)

Hi Blisses,

I missed doing Top Five Tuesday. This weekly meme is hosted and created by Shanah from The Bionic Book Worm. Shout out to her dedication for coming up with these amazing blog post ideas. Originally, the prompt is ‘Top 5 books I predict will be 5 stars!’ but I decided to just focus on books to be released next month.  I really can’t wait to read these books.

So without further ado, here are the five books I believe will get 5 stars from me.

1.) With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

Expected Publication: May 07, 2019
I really liked this author’s debut novel, The Poet X, and rated it five stars so I’m certain I’m gonna like this one too. The story is about a single mom, who is juggling time for her daughter and school. And she loves to cook. I think the story will be an emotional but heartwarming and empowering one. I swear, I can see the five stars already shining for this book.

2.) The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

Expected Publication: May 07, 2019
Helen Hoang’s debut novel, The Kiss Quotient, got 5-star from me. I believe her second novel would be as amazing  as her debut because I really love her writing. Anyway, this book tells the story of Khai who is autistic and according to his family, processes emotions differently. Thus, his mother took the matter in her hands to find him a bride. So an arranged marriage? Darn it, sign me up.

3.) Romanov by Nadine Brandes

Expected Publication: May 07, 2019
This is an Anastasia retelling and I’m all for it. Plus the blurb is so intriguing. It tells of her romantic interest being on the other side of the battle. I really hope the romance, along with the history and mystery side of the novel, delivered as I expected them. πŸ™‚

4.) We Hunt the Flame by  Hafsah Faizal

Expected Publication: May 14, 2019
This is a story of identity. The girl, Zafira is the Hunter, who disguises herself as a man to feed her people, while Nazir is the Prince of Death and assassinates those who defy his autocratic father, the king. The blurb also said both of them are legends but they don’t want to be. I’m really, really excited to read this book. And by the way, this is #Ownvoice.

5.) The Unhoneymooners by Christina Laurens

Expected Publication: May 14, 2019
Christina Lauren’s books are either hit or miss to me, but I’m pretty sure this one would be a hit. It’s an enemies-to-lovers’ romance which is my favorite trope. I will never get tired of reading about enemies becoming lovers, firstly because I love the banters, and secondly, I live for the tension between the MCs. Hehe.

There you have it guys. I really hoped these books end up with 5 stars from me. Now it’s your turn.

Are you familiar with these books? Are they on you TBR too? Or have you read their ARCs? Any 5-star predictions? Let’s chat.

I was able to snatch a physical ARC of With The Fire On High at the book festival I went t, but I missed the event handing out ARCs of We Hunt The Flame! I was upset for a minute, but as long as I get the chance to read it when it comes out, right?!
