August TBR

Hi Blisses,

First of all, I want to share  that I’ve read 20 books last month. I wanted to review all of them but it’s just not doable. I don’t have enough time to write full-length reviews of all the books I’ve read. But I always make sure to leave at least a paragraph on Goodreads about what I think of them. That said, if you want to check out my reviews, check out the “I Review…” menu above and you’ll see my “2019 A-Z Reads” page or you can just click THIS LINK.

But enough about the ones I’ve read, let me now share the ones I’m planning to read this month. I’m going to do something different. I decided to label my reads not only by genre but also by the reason why I should read them.
So let’s start…

PRIORITIES (ARCs, Blog Tours, etc)

1.) The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
2.) Song For A Lost Kingdom by Steve Moretti
3.) Death Among Us (Anthology)
4.) A Different Time by Michael K.Hill

READING CHALLENGE

5.) MiddleGame by Seanan McGuire
6.) Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
7.) Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas
8.) Pet Sematary by Stephen King

9.) The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
10.) The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
11.) Wicked Fox by Kat Cho
12.) My Lady’s Choosing by Kitty Curran

GENRES I DON’T READ MUCH

13.) A Million Junes by Emily Henry (Magic Realism, YA Contemporary)
14.) Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse (Historical Fiction, WW)
15.) Bird Box by Josh Malerman (Horror)
16.) The Little Prince by Antoine St-Exupery (Classic, Childrens)

JULY TBR BALANCE

17.) A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole
18.) A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole
19.) Wonder Woman: Warbringer by  Leigh Bardugo
20.) The Culling by Sian Claven
21.) Resilient by Toni Cox

NONFICTION (+ School books I read before and want to Reread)

22.) Discourse on Method by Rene Descartes
23.) Deep Work by Cal Newport
24.) The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

NEW RELEASES/LATEST HAULS

25.) Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
26.) Descendants of the Crane by Joan He
27.) The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare

So I’m kind of stepping out of my comfort zone when it comes to my reading. Having three Nonfiction books in my TBR is a little weird for me but I really want to learn more. I haven’t read Depp Work and The Power of Habit before but I’m excited to see their impact on me. Discourse on Method, on the other hand, I remember being intrigued by it when I studied it in Uni but I guess it’s different when you read a book as a requirement. Hopefully, I get more out of it this time that I’m reading it because I want to.

Have you read these books? Or are they on your TBR too? If you have any review posts for these books, kindly share your links in the comment so I can read them.

Let’s chat.

“I’ve read 20 books last month”…Always impressed by your reading skills! Seriously 😊Looks like you will be reading quite a number of good books! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Pet Cemetary, because well…that is to be honest the only book I know out of all these…🙈🙈🙈
    Happy reading though! 😊

hehe. thanks Raist. You’ve read Pet cematary? How was it? I’ve watched the movie adaptation though and it was ok. I don’t really expect much from adaptations anymore since most of them don’t live up to the greatness of the books.

Haven’t read the book myself either (yet) but I have seen the movie adaptation (the old one, not the newer version which I hear isn’t all that good). But yeah usually movie adaptations when compared to books don’t really do that well 😔

Hopefully I can read all of these. hehe. I’m kidding, I don’t think I can. As you know I was planning to read Resilient last month but I got distracted by my physical books so I read them first and completely ignoring my Kindle. I think I’ll read it tonight. 🙂

Great TBR! I really enjoyed Bird Box and The Sun Is Also A Star of these and I can’t wait to get a copy of The Girl The Sea Gave Back as I loved her debut. I hope you will enjoy these and have a wonderful August!

I’m so excited to read all of these books but especially, The Sun is Also a Star, I’m hoping it’ll be on my fave shelf. I’m lucky to get approved with an ARC if The Girl the Sea gave back. 🙂

You too Yvo, have a great August.

Holey bagels what a line up. Kudos to you on commiting to reading a set bunch of books. I’m so picky and rebellious that I have to choose my next book based upon my mood. Sometimes though I will binge on a series (Beneath by Meghan March + slowly reading more of the Hannah Swensen cozy mysteries.

oh trust me, I also pick up books depend on my mood. That’s why I learned to make my TBR list as diverse as possible, there’s at least one in every genre so I always have something to read whatever my mood is. 🙂
