WWW Wednesday, 1/22/2020 (I read 7 books last week)

Hi Blisses,

I finished 7 books, one of them a novella but another one is Book 1-3 of a cozy mystery series. I mean, I need a reward right? Like a bottle of champagne or a massage, or both. πŸ™‚ I also need to mention that I didn’t neglect my writing this week, so yeah, I need to reward myself this weekend.

I want to talk about the books I read right away but before that I must give credit where credit is due for this meme. WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam from Taking on a World of Words and if you’re not following her blog yet, it’s time to check it out. πŸ™‚ Okay, let’s get on the book talk.

#3 Questions are to be Answered

1.) What are you currently reading?

I’m finally reading “The Flatshare”. Among all the books in my January TBR, it’s the most recommended to me and has the highest praise. And YES, you guys are definitely correct. I’m only around 25% and I’m enjoying it a lot. Hopefully, this will be my first 5-star this year.

I won’t finish “I Can’t make This Up” until this month end. That’s my plan for all the non-fiction books I’ll read this year. I want to savor every chapter.

I love Julie Garwood since I was in high school and so I have lots of her books, all of them physical books. Though it’s not listed in my 2020 Reading Goals, I am set to read my backlist books before I donate them somewhere.

2.) What did you recently finished?

Like I said, I read 7 books and I couldn’t be happier. After that horrible 2-month reading and writing hiatus last November and December, I was afraid. I thought my love for reading is forever tainted but here I am.

Geekerella – I never liked Cinderella but I’ve read some amazing retellings of the original and loved them. However, all the retellings I’ve read were fantasy, and that’s the main reason why it took me years before I picked up Geekerella. It’s contemporary and I thought it would take a lot from the original and somehow, yes it did. But I wasn’t prepared for the adorableness and geekiness of this. I love it so much. I talked myself into reviewing it but got lazy. I might still review it someday but, don’t hope much. πŸ™‚

Beard Necessities – is the last instalment in Penny Reid’s “Winston Brothers Series” and I’m a little sad that the series is over but I’m glad for this book. Penny Reid never disappoints. Beard Necessities is about a second chance romance between Billy and Scarlet/Claire. Their love story is so heartwarming and painful at the same time. There’s a novella before this novel but I couldn’t bring myself to read it because I can’t risk it. I knew the novella ended as tragic and I just started loving reading again. I don’t want to get hurt that much. ( MY REVIEW )

Song of the Dryad – is written by an authortuber Natalia Leigh. I’ve been following her on youtube for a while now and I love her. One of my 2020 Reading Goals is to read more books written by fellow bloggers and youtubers, and this book is first of the many that I will read this year. I can say that this book is a cozy fantasy perfect for autumn and colder weather. ( MY REVIEW )

Jamie Quinn Mystery Book 1-3 – Yes it’s 3 books in one. This was sent to me by the author herself and I’m grateful. This is a good read and I didn’t find myself bored while reading it. If I did, I would’ve returned it because that’s my rule when you send me your book. If I didn’t like it, I won’t rate it and will return it to you. Gladly, that didn’t happen to this book. I will write a review one of these days but I’m not in a hurry. It’s going to be one long review because it’s for three books.

Neanderthal Seeks Human – is a reread. I don’t know why I suddenly pick it up again, but I did. My review has gone from 3 stars to 4 stars. Obviously, I loved it more the second time around. Also I didn’t review it before, now I still didn’t, but I shared a short thoughts on Goodreads.

Ninja at First Sight – is a novella before the full novel featuring Greg and Fiona and is set on a college campus where they first met. This is hilarious really. Greg and Fiona became my favorite couple in the series instantly. So of course, I read the full novel right after I was done with this novella. ( MY SHORT REVIEW )

Happily Ever Ninja – is the full novel featuring Greg and Fiona, my favorite couple in the whole series. The story is set 14 years after they met (in Ninja at First Sight) though there are few flashbacks from the past and I devoured those flashback because finally I get a peek from Greg’s point of view. Also the story is very realistic when it comes to marriage because yes, Greg and Fiona are already married in this book. And what I love the most is the pacing. Something suspenseful is always happening. I enjoyed every bit of this novel. ( MY REVIEW )

3.) What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m really happy my love for reading is back. You guys have no idea how this makes me feel better about everything. I mean writing is my life and not being able to enjoy reading is the worst. It’s impossible to write when you don’t enjoy reading anymore, so I’m glad my passion is back. πŸ™‚

By the way guys, I won’t be posting lots of reviews on my blog anymore. I would post reviews from time to time but not as often as I used to. But I will always review my books on Goodreads so if you want you can Add + Follow me there. Here’s my Goodreads Link.

Have you read any of these books? Are they on your TBR too? What do you think of them? What’s on your TBR this week? Let’s chat.

I hope you end up enjoying I Can’t Make This Up! I think breaking up nonfiction a bit and taking it slow is a good idea. I tend to rush mine, and then I get overwhelmed and burned out on it. One day I’ll learn. Probably. Your upcoming reads look great! They’re all on my TBR, too. Happy reading!

Thank you Nikki. πŸ™‚ Hmm, about Geekerella, since I didn’t post a review so I can’t direct you to read my opinions, I’ll just say it here, including my biggest issue with the book.

If you’re not into geeky and almost juvenile love stories, I don’t think Geekerella is for you. Also there’s a reason I didn’t give it 5 stars though I enjoyed it. It felt like the romance was so fast or wrapped up fast at the end. It’s because they met via text and then before the ending, they only had like 5 face to face interactions and then THE END.

I’m sorry if it looks like I’m giving you spoilers but the thing about them meeting thru text is on the blurb and since you said, it might not be your kind of book, I kinda want to save you time by sharing the biggest issue I have with it, which is the wrap-up.

Hope my opinion helps. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
