This is such a perfect tag right now because it provides variety of books that we can choose from to read during quarantine. Personally, it is perfect for me because my mood changes every hour. One minute I’m okay, the next I’m anxious. So it’s nice to have a book for my every mood. Sure this tag says occasion but you know what I mean.

Wait For It by Mariana Zapata

I decided to share my current read for this prompt. Wait for It is actually a reread. I was browsing my kindle last night, bored and it kind of called to me so I read it. And there’s this scene that broke me. Anyone who’ve read this book knows the scene I’m talking about – it’s when Diana, the heroine was crying and the hero found her and she finally told him about her two kids. Diana is a single mother (sort of) and having an emotional moment. You all will cry too, I promise.

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Also a very recent read of mine. This is a sequel to “The Bromance Book Club”. I want to be clear, I rated the first book, 5 stars but I rated Undercover Bromance, only 4 stars but it’s funnier. Much much funnier. I really laughed so loud even if it’s the middle of the night and everyone’s asleep and I’m not even in my own home. I blame the chicken in the story. I promise the chicken scenes, even if it’s not in the scene but it is the topic, will make you laugh. You can read my reviews of book 1 and book two Here and Here.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

This one of those books that really made me passionate for things that matter not just to me but to the world. It’s like it opened my mind into the truth about discrimination even though I already fairly acquainted with the said issue. I wasn’t even expected I would cry and then beat myself because I’m helpless when I really want to do something about the unfairness of the world.

Gosh, I can be so dramatic sometimes.

I was smiling the whole time reading this. It’s the kind of book you want to read while relaxing in front of the fireplace and having wine or a cup of tea. And by the way, this is my second 5-star read this year.

Narnia by C.S. Lewis

I’d say harry Potter or Alice in Wonderland but I realized, I rarely talk about Narnia in my blog . Narnia is one of the first fantasy books I read as a youngster and when I say youngster, I mean a highschooler. LOL. Believe it or not, I didn’t read any fantasy or childrens books until I’m in highschool. Though I started reading full length novels when I was 8, I started with romance and crime thrillers. I remember being amazed reading narnia like for the first time, I want to believe there’s another dimensions we’re yet to discover and that I want to live in one of them. 🙂

Actually, I’m not easily scared but this book gave me goosebumps. It’s because one of the few things that bothers me, in a scary way, is when people who are alive are touching people who are clearly not alive. Oh god, really. I don’t want to talk bout this anymore.

To be honest, I’m jealous with all the heroines in Penny Reid’s books. They’re all professionals with amazing jobs. Some of them are genius, some are very talented. I’m not saying they’re perfect but they have things we, mortal women, aspire. hehe. But in Motion, the heroine, Mona, is a prodigy. She’s a genius and already part of a research team about something-science (LOL) despite her young age. I’ve always wanted to be a genius. In my imagination, I already have a pulitzer.

The heroine is a figure skater and she inspired me so much because I see myself in her. or more like I want to see myself in her. She’s in her late 20s and still haven’t succeeded to have a name in figure skating. She’s kinda known but still struggling. And wow, she has a will of iron. She’s very strong and wouldn’t give up. She’ll get up (figuratively and literally) over and over again after falling until she gets what she aspires to be. (I’m crying right now, also, I’ll be rereading this one)

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

Frodo is good, but I’m more inspired with Sam. This is actually a no-brainer. We all know who Samwise Gamgee is and what an amazing character he is. I really hope there are a lot of Sam in this world.
