5 Sanity Savers While in Isolation

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Shanah @Bionic Book Worm. She sets weekly prompts every month and they’re always great prompts. Though I must admit, I’ve never completed doing all prompts in a month. Last month, I blame it to my anxiety. My anxiety stopped me from being creative, but I’m feeling better. I decided that my anxiety will not be a boss of me anymore.

So here I am, participating in one of beloved weekly memes. This week’s topic is Sanity Savers or Things I enjoy doing while in isolation. It’s really hard to focus right now, but after three weeks in isolation, I’m finally able to focus on somethings. Here they are.

1.) Reading

It wasn’t easy to read at first. It wasn’t easy to focus on the story. It wasn’t easy to enjoy anything while the world is suffering. But I get over it and before I knew it, I’ve been reading every night – 1 book before I fall asleep. It made me reach an astonishing number of books read last month. 2.) Sleeping

Sleeping is one of the hardest especially with anxiety, but lately, I’ve been sleeping a lot. And no, it’s not depression. At first though, I thought it’s my depression that’s making me want to sleep. It’s not and it’s not fatigue because I feel rested every time I wake up. I’m literally sleeping for 15 or more hours a day. That’s too much, I know but I’m not complaining. I’m using the isolation to rest my body.

3.) Reading my Bible/devotion/meditation

I believe this helps a lot with everything. Before isolation, I read the bible every other day but now, I read it every day. It calms me and it’s definitely making my faith stronger. I feel like I’m closer to God than ever before and I love it. My faith is really important to me so I’m very happy the isolation is somehow helping me grow it.

4.) Litsy

I’m really enjoying Litsy guys. Before isolation, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this community but only during isolation, I finally joined. Now my love for it rivals my love for Goodreads. Also the people there are so friendly. But as you can see, my followers are still few, so if you’re on Litsy, can you guys follow me?I’ll follow back, of course. 5.) Spending Time with my little Cousins

When our community quarantine was announced, I was visiting my aunt for a night. Unfortunately, it was effective immediately. At midnight, I can’t go out anymore. So here I am, stuck at a house that is not my home. I also don’t have anything with me except the clothes I’m wearing, my old laptop and a toothbrush. It’s a nightmare really which I think makes my anxiety more serious. Thankfully, I’m close with my two little cousins and I’ve been spending a lot of time with them. We’ve been watching lots of films. You bet we’ve already watched thousands classic and new kids films. And before quarantine ends, I think we’ll be able to watch a thousand more.

Last night, it was announced that the lockdowns will be extended till April 30, so I need to find more things to keep my time. I also hope I can finally write. My creative juices are just not flowing.

  1. Your cousin is cute. I am glad you are sleeping well. I am unable to, so that’s affecting my mental health. Add to it the stress and I am overwhelmed. Trying to be quiet to get things done

  2. Reading is definitely what is getting me through this, along with sleeping. I also end up watching a lot of Netflix which helps pass time. I’m not on Litsy but seeing ad you’re enjoying it, I might check it out! I’ll definitely follow you if I do.

    Another thing getting me through this is my garden – I hate staying at home but at least I can go get some fresh air without having to leave my home.

  3. Like you, I’m ahead on my Goodreads challenge, but not by that many books, lol. So sorry the quarantine stranded you, but it sounds like you’re making the best of thr situation. Glad you’re with family – hang in there, Lili, and take care!

  4. I’ve been doing a lot of these things, except sleep. I’m super lacking in that area with a teething baby. ahhh! haha. I just followed you on Litsy! I keep forgetting about it, to be honest! I need to be more active on there.

    I’m glad Shanah is doing these topics this month, we all need some happy distractions at the moment. I don’t think you’d sleep as long if your mind and body didn’t need it. Reading was on my list too, I’m enjoying all the extra reading time and I’m making the most of having my family home with me.
