Hi Blisses,

I love reading book series because they give me the chance to binge-read, and an experience to stay longer with the characters in a fictional world that I love. 10 is actually just a small fraction of the numbers of the book series I want to read. But I do know it’s impossible to read everything this year. I’m no superhuman.
I decided to focus on book series that have been on my TBR in forever. I also made sure that all the books in the series are already published and that I already own them. That way, I have lesser reasons not to pick them up.
Let’s start with the only duology in this list…By the way, is duology considered a series? I don’t know, it just seems too few to be called as a series.
1.) Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Laini Taylor is actually one of my favorite authors from this generation. I love her writing style so much. That’s why I have no proper excuse why I haven’t picked up this series yet. But in my defense, I’m not that familiar with the story of this series. All I know is that it’s about dreams and there’s a guy who is a librarian and he dreamt of this girl who, of course, is mysterious. And it’s set in the City of Weep. See? It’s very vague.
Now for the trilogies…
2.) Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab

I’ve never read anything from V.E. Schwab but I want to. This is the only series of hers that I own all the books. I’ve heard nothing but great things about her works and I’m so excited to join her fans gushing about her books.
3.) The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Out of all the books in this list, this is one I’m most excited about. Though I think, half of my excitement is due to the beauty of the physical books. I’m excited to sit and hold those massive books. I love huge books.
4.) Iskari by Kristen Ciccarelli

The last book in Iskari trilogy just came out last year but I’ve been meaning to read the first since it first came out. I find the idea of a Namsara, child of sky and spirit, and Iskari, child of blood and moonlight, really fascinating. Isakri is even labeled as the destroyer and the death-bringer. How awesome is that? And if that’s not enough, the heroine is a dragon slayer. Need I say more?
5.) Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Persian fantasy, Middle Eastern influence, sands, guns, horses…I don’t think I’ve ever read any fantasy novel that’s set in a dessert so this series is going to be a treat.
6.) Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

This is a sci-fi slash dystopian slash a bit fantasy and of course romance. I love forbidden romance and Under the Never Sky screams all forbidden. Basically, the plot is about the Dwellers and Outsiders. The dwellers live in some kind of a dome and the outsiders live…duh? Of course, outside. LOL. Anyway, the heroine is a dweller and something forced her to go out and there she meets the hero. I have high hopes for this trilogy.
Let’s get on with the quartets now…
7.) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

Look at the covers!!! They’re gorgeous. To be honest, I only bought the physical books because of the covers. They look so beautiful in my shelf. This series is part fantasy and paranormal…I think. Actually I haven’t read any review of any of the books in the series so I know so little about the story.
8.) The Diviners by Libba Bray
The last book in The Diviners Series just came out this year and that’s the reason why I haven’t read the series. Reading the blurb of the first book, I think it’s the kind of series where all the books must be read one after the other. It’s because I think it’s going to be atmospheric and it will be an amazing experience to not lose the mood while reading the series.
Now, for much longer series.
9.) Study + Soulfinders by Maria V. Snyder
The original series is just Study which is a trilogy but the characters in Study are still main characters in Soulfinders along with other additional main characters. This series has the most fascinating concept. The series started with the heroine given a second chance to be a food taster rather than be executed. I’m curious how the story will go from there.
10.) Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews

This must be one of the oldest series I own. I had the first books in the series since high school, I think. Still, I haven’t read them. I’m hoping to change that this year. But my love for paranormal is not as huge as it used to be so I’m not that excited. I’ll still try though.
There you have it Blisses – 10 series I want to read this year. Of course, these are not the only series I will read this year, I’ll also read new ones. There are tons of new series that are coming out this year. There are also the ones I already started. I want to read them all.
Ugh, too many books, so little time.
Have you read any of these series? Or are they still on your TBR too? What do you think of them? Let’s chat.

Great post! There is a few here that I want to try myself…Under the Never Sky sounds interesting!
You will love the Illuminae Files. It is written so uniquely. 🙂

I’m very intrigued by the Illuminae Files. Loved Kristoff’s Nevernight Chronicles 🙂

I only have the first book in Nevernight so it’s not in this list but Illuminae is written uniquely, not in the usual book format with paragraphs. Hopefully it’s really good. 😊

What’s the format?

Instead of the usual, it is told in emails, transcripts etc…When I skimmed through my copy of Illuminae, I think I saw some arts too, photos, and maybe even maps of spaceships. It’s really unique.

Ah, found footage. I have read a novella in that style and have listened to a pretty cool horror podcast (The White Vault) in the same format. Might give this a go.

I haven’t read anything with that kind of format so I’m curious if I’ll like it. Hopefully.

Oh I have two books from that series too. If it’s your favorites then it must be better. Aside from couple of books from Kate Daniels, I’ll read from Innkeeper too.

Strange the Dreamer is fantastic! Probably my favourite duology ever. The Raven Cycle is another favourite series (although The Scorpio Races is my favourite Stiefvater). ADSOM is also great as is the Illuminae trilogy, the Iskari trilogy, and the Rebel of the Sands trilogy! You have so much fun ahead of you…

Hi Lili, you’ve sure got some big sellers on your list! If I had compiled a list, the Kate Daniels series would be on mine too. I’ve read Magic Bites and really enjoyed it but haven’t continued and bought the rest. Not sure why as paranormal romance and urban fantasy is my genre and I love The Innkeeper Chronicles.

Glad you liked Magic Bites, I’m excited to read it. And you’re not the first person who told me they liked Innkeeper Chronicles. So I’ll read that series too soon. 🙂 🙂

There aren’t as many books in the Innkeeper Chronicles so it feels less daunting – we have to constantly mind our TBR piles! 😂😂😂

I began the Diviners two months ago and I’d recommend the audiobook Lili. The narrator is simply amazing! And I so loved The raven Boys and Rebel of the sand!

OMG. I’m currently making my TBR for next month and they’re part of my list. I’m so excited. Though I don’t know if I can listen to an audiobook of Diviners. Our quarantine is extended, so it’s 2 months now. And I’m still at my aunt’s. i don’t know if you knew that i’m stuck here. I was visiting when the quarantine was enforced. Anyway, I can’t focus with audiobooks here, thanks to the two toddlers who thinks they’re cute when they screams. hehe. I always find it easier to focus when reading a physical book. 🙂

I am hoping to finish a series today (The Wheel of Time) and then I get to choose whether to continue one I am already reading or start a new one. Hmmmm….

Aaaah the struggle. In my case, I usually binge read and won’t stop until I finished reading all the booksin a series but lately, I notice I get distracted easily and keep on starting a series. 🙂

I am trying to read books in series about one or two months apart, but failing miserably at the moment! I like variety too much!

Yay for Iskari, Poison Study, The Raven Cycle and Illuminae!!
Most of the others are still on my TBR as well… Except I have started the Shades of Magic trilogy.
I have a friend who keeps yelling at me to read the Kate Daniels books – I don’t think I realised how big the series was!!

Yes! The Kate Daniels series is so big but so highly recommended to me, and they have high ratings on goodreads so my hopes are high as well. 🙂
