The Book Snob Book Tag

Hi Blisses,

It’s been a while since I posted a tag and I’m glad I was tagged to do this by Jen over at JenJen Reviews. Thank you Jen. Kindly visit Jen’s post. I enjoyed reading her answers and you might too. This tag is originally from tia and all the books so visit her youtube channel too.

Okay, let’s start…

ADAPTATION SNOB: Do you always read the book before watching the film/ TV show?

Just like Jen, it’s almost always. I try to read the book before watching the adaptations but sometimes, I have no time and can’t wait to watch the adaptation so I just read the book after. There were times that I didn’t know the show or movie was based in a book and watched it. And again, I read the book after.

FORMAT SNOB: You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

Physical books. Call me old fashioned but physical books are still the best. But I can’t deny the fact that ebooks and audiobooks are more advantageous. However, ebooks makes my eyes hurt sometimes. That’s why my kindle is ancient because I don’t bother upgrading to a newer version because I don’t intend to use it much. LOL. And audiobooks? I find it very slow. I can adjust the speed, of course, but then it will sound weird if I go too fast. I’m a very impatient reader, which means I can’t wait to find out what happens next and audiobooks take at least ten hours and I just can’t wait that long.

SHIP SNOB: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

First of all, I don’t plan on marrying anyone ever. But sure, if I will marry, I can marry a non-reader. As long as he supports my hobby, gift me books, build me new bookshelves, take me to libraries, etc. I will also demand a fixed portion in our monthly budget dedicated to books and bookish stuff only…LOL.

GENRE SNOB: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Psychological Thriller. I found this genre the most problematic, usually with cheating. LOL. So I can live without it. But I do love crime mysteries and thrillers and they usually go with psychological thrillers.

UBER GENRE SNOB: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

Romance. It’s my comfort genre. A good romance book always makes my mood better and for someone who has no plan of marrying for the rest of her life, that seems odd. I love reading romance but I don’t want it for myself. LOL. I reread this genre most of the times. Plus they’re shorter than most genres.

COMMUNITY SNOB: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

I can’t choose between Romance and Childrens. I kind of think people belittle these two genres almost in the same level, though romance get more controversial. As Jenny also mentioned, some people think that romance is not real writing which pisses me off, to be honest. I write romance too and it’s not easy. Its not easy to write about love and make the readers believe in it. And yeah, the steaminess. Seriously, it is subjective. Maybe for one reader a certain level of steam is just mild but for the other, it’s too much, borderline erotica or as others call it – porn. It depends on the reader and no one has the right to say what should and shouldn’t in writing romances.

As for the Childrens, I’m a bit guilty of this because I sued to think that this genre is written just for children, therefore shallow. I WAS SO STUPID. Now, I think Childrens and Middle-Grade have the most unique plots. Cliches are not common in the genre and their moral lessons are usually too deep but conveyed in a way that even kids understand. So I think, most of the greatest authors alive are writers of this genre. I salute them.

  1. Romance is one of my favorite genres and it annoys me so much when people roll their eyes at it. These writers are amazing because when done right they make you feel something and can bring us to tears or laugher.

  2. I usually like to read the book before the movie too Romance is definitely one the best genres and I love it so so much and yeah, all the romance is not easy to write and reading it doesn’t mean I’m stupid?? idk that’s what I feel others think and I am so done with that.
