Hi Nerds,
This weekly meme is currently hosted by Jana @That Artsy Reader Girl and every Tuesday there’s a new topic to explore. This week’s topic is “Book I’d Slay a Lion to get Early”. Ever since I started blogging last year, I consider myself blessed for having received and read quite a number of Advance Reader’s Copies (ARCs). It’s always nice to read books I like earlier than its release. And there are always those books I can’t wait to read that I’m not even willing to wait for their release dates. I WANT THEIR ARCs. Like seriously. 🙂 🙂 🙂
1. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Expected publication: February 5th 2019 by Imprint
Yeah, d*mn it I Know. I’m punishing myself for wanting to read this. I have to wait for so many months but I can’t help it. The first time I heard that the great, lovable, adorable, amazing, Nikolai Lantsov from the GrishaVerse Trilogy is getting his own series, I was in tears. I just wanna cuddle with him forever.
How could I not want to have and read this very soon? It’s a retelling of “The Little Mermaid”. Now who doesn’t love The Little Mermaid? Plus, this retelling kinda tells the story of Ursula, the villain in the said tale. And isn’t she one of the best villain ever created? So I want this.
Expected publication: July 31st 2018 by Katherine Tegen Books
3. Bright We Burn by Kiersten White
This is third book in “The Conqueror’s Saga” which I’m planning to read very soon so I need this final book. 🙂 Have you read the first 2 books in this series? What do you think of them? I wouldn’t mind spoilers. 🙂
Expected publication: July 10th 2018 by Delacorte
4. Archenemies by Marissa Meyer
Sequel to Meyer’s Renegades, a superhero vs. villains kind of story, which I rated 5 stars. Now, I know Renegades is flawed. It really is. It has tropes that’s so cliche, has conflicts or plot points that a little stupid because how on earth the others didn’t realize who Nightmare and Sentinel are? So yeah flawed. BUT I definitely enjoyed reading it, even amazed with everyone’s X-Men-ish superpowers. And there are diverse characters. And Meyer’s writing is the easiest to read, so yeah, I want book 2 so much. SOON.
Expected publication: November 6th 2018 by Feiwel & Friends
5. Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
Everyone know how much I loved the first two instalments of “Stalking Jack the Ripper” series so it’s no surprise I am beyond excited to read this one. I mean just look at the cover. And by the way, if you haven’t read the other books, this series tells the adventures of Thomas Cresswell and Audrey Rose Wadsworth who are like Sherlock and Watson. No kidding. And these two are the most lovable characters.
Expected publication: September 18th 2018 by JIMMY Patterson
*Click the titles to see my reviews of the first books:
1.) Stalking Jack The Ripper (4.5/5 Stars)
2.) hunting Prince Dracula (5/5 Stars)
6. The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young
I enjoyed Samantha Young’s “On Dublin Street Series” so when I saw this and then read the description, my heart beat faster than normal. I need to have this. The MC, Comet is a blogger and a book nerd whose friends are book characters. Her ordinary life is about to shift into something extraordinary when she met Tobias. Suddenly her life is on the spotlight. My heart tells me I’d love this one.
Expected publication: June 26th 2018 by Harlequin Teen
7.) The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
I just added Tessa Dare in my list of favorite Historical Romance Authors. If you’re a lover of the genre and haven’t tried Miss Dare’s books, I encourage you to do it now. You won’t regret it. Yep, I’m pretty confident about it. The Governess Game is Book 2 in her “Girl Meets Duke” series. My goodreads shelf will tell you I haven’t read “The Duchess Deal” (Book 1) but I already did, I just didn’t listed it as ‘read’ because I know I’ll reread it before this year ends. I don’t want to list books read twice in the same year. lol. Anyway, that’s how much I love Tessa Dares’s works. I’ve read and loved her other works too, obviously.
Expected publication: August 28th 2018 by Avon
From the author of Hunted, comes another retelling, this time of Robin Hood. You guys, I think the MC of this book, Marian would be one of the most badass women of YA Fantasy because she’s gonna be Robin Hood. A girl Robin Hood. How awesome is that?
There’s just one bad news: Expected publication: March 19th 2019 by HarperTeen
Yep, I’m doomed.
9. A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole
This is Book 2 of Miss Cole’s “Reluctant Royal” Series and though I haven’t read Book 1 yet, I already own a copy. I’ll read it as soon as I can. Just by reading the descriptions on GR, I fell in love with these books and I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading them. Besides I’m SO into royal love stories. There’s just something in that trope that makes me keep coming back to them though they usually have the same conflicts. Gah!, I want this. And look at the woman’s dress in the cover. Isn’t it gorgeous? SHE IS gorgeous.
Expected publication: July 31st 2018 by Avon
10. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
I love Laini Taylor‘s writing. I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and I can’t wait to dive in to her another series “Strange the Dreamer”. Well, Muse of Nightmares is Book 2 of that series. I can’t get myself to read Book 1 without book two out yet. I don’t want to wait so I NEED THIS NOW. Whoever has an ARC for this book, “How lucky you are!”
Expected publication: October 2nd 2018 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Also I think the cover was so much better if it’s brighter like Strange the Dreamer’s cover but oh well, the title has nightmares on it so maybe that’s why.
*Deep Sigh* It would be miracles if I get ARCs of these books but one is free to dream. 🙂 🙂
So are you guys familiar and excited with these books too? Or is there any book you guys are excited to read? ARCs you wish you receive? Share them to me below. Let’s chat.
Happy Reading,
King of Scars is top of my list this week too. I absolutely love Nikolai. Any guesses who the other pov will be? My money’s on Nina.
I hadn’t heard of a lot of the others but they’re all going on my TBR. Particularly excited about Spooners and a new Tessa Dare. Great list.

yeah.. My first guess was Nina but how about Zoya…. Isn’t she a squaller and the GR description says young squaller. Actually I’m good with anyone, Im sure our Queen Leigh won’t disappoint us. hehe.
Yeah I think Id love Spooner’s new book than Hunted. And Tessa Dare. her writing was really good. 🙂

I did wonder about Zoya too given the squaller thing but I was a little thrown by Bardugo saying a character from Six of Crows. Zoya was in it but not that much plus I didn’t think she was that young.

OMG!!!! I want to read it now. If it’s NIna, the chance that Kaz Brekker shows up in the plot is bigger. Aaaahhh, I’m so excited…
And I agree, Zoya isn’t that young…OMG…

I really just love the idea of Nina and Nikolai. I am no doubt completely wrong though and it’ll be someone completely different. I may need to re read SoC just to see who else there was 😉

I’ll have a Binge Reread on June and SoC is one of the series in my list. 🙂 🙂 And I would Love Nina more, I think though it still hurts me what happened to Matthias. 🙂 🙂

You HAVE to read Strange the Dreamer… IT’S SO GOOD T_T and if Nina isn’t in King of Scars I may cry because her ending in Crooked Kingdom was unfair 😡

I’m sure she’ll be in King of Scars but I really hope she’s also the main lead. 🙂 🙂 And I know, right? That was unfair ending for Nina.
i’ll definitely read Strange the Dreamer. Very soon. 🙂 🙂

I absolutely ADORED And I Darken, so I need to read the sequel so I can pick up the final book!! I hope you love it when you read it. I’m currently working my way through Bardugo books (as in, I’ve recently finished Shadow and Bone), so hopefully by the time I read all the Grisha books King of Scars will be out and waiting for me.

Thank you… I’m really happy I discoverd Tessa Dare. I usually just read Historical Romance if its written by Kleypas, Quinn, garwood and Chase.. any recommendation for the genre? I’m good with anything as long as its clean romance. definitely no cheating in the plot. 🙂 🙂

The Fragile Ordinary sounds really good!! I also want to read Arch Nemesis despite not loving Renegades. I agree, it was really tropey and very much felt like an X-Men knock-off. Just WAY too similar for me. I think Marissa Meyer can do better & I do love her writing, so I’m still going to continue with the series. Great list!! I hope you get to read all of these ASAP!!

Thanks Michelle… I really want to have Fragile Ordinary soon. 🙂 And yeah, I think Meyer can do better and maybe book 2 will be so much better because that ending… Finally they’ll have to face the Real villain. 🙂 🙂
