Happy Tuesday Guys,
It’s been a while since I took part in this meme and really if not for the amazing topic this week, I don’t I’d be able to do this post. I’m still in a slump guys. 🙂 Big thanks to the host of this weekly meme, Jana @That Artsy Reader Girl who thought of this amazing topic. This week’s topic is “Platonic Relationships in Books” and I thought I’d share some friendships in books I literally wish I’m a part of. Or maybe I can find something like them in real life. 🙂 🙂
1.) Inej and Nina (Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo)
My babies. I’m so used of seeing girls in YA hating each other, there are some exception of course but usually girls hate each other first before becoming friends. Inej and Nina surprised me. They’rre the bestest of friends who are always there for each other no matter what the situation is. They don’t even have many things in common. I wanna have some tea and cookies with these two.
2.) Hermione and Harry (Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling)
And Ron. But Hermione and Harry have the most amazing relationship. Let’s be honest, Harry is less interesting without Hermione and Hermione’s brain is not that amazing without Harry. So these two are like soulmates only not romantically.
3.) Rose and Lissa (Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead)
Sure guarding Lissa is Rose’s job but while doing her job, she developed a real friendship with Lissa, making the two of them having each other’s back while navigating through their high school life in Vampire’s Academy.
4.) Cinder and Iko (The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer)
I really admire Cinder and Iko’s friendship. It was unusual of course. Iko is an android but well, Cinder has cyborg parts in her. But it’s fascinating how fond Iko to Cinder and how Cinder turns and listens to Iko for advices.
5.) Kvothe and Auri (The kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss)
I think everyone who have read The Kingkiller Chronices loved Kvothe and Auri. Their friendship is secret but not really scandalous. It’s just that no one knows where Auri stays in the university where Kvothe studies so they have to keep their friendships hidden. But I love how true and intimate their friendship is. I even think Auri’s main purpose in the story is to show Kvothe’s soft and compassionate side and I’m loving it.
6.)Evelyn Hugo and Harry Cameron(The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo byTaylor Jenkins Reid)
Harry Cameron is Evelyn Hugo’s husband #5 and for me he’s the best among the seven. Harry is one of the people Evelyn meets in the story so to say, they both know so much about each other is understatement. Also for me they’re soulmates, not as lovers but as friends. Their marriage is even a proof that they can do everything to help each other.
7.) Liesel Meminger and Hans Hubermann(The Book Thief by Markus Zusak)
I could’ve chosen Max or Rudy as they’re both good friends to Liesel but I chose Hans. Hans is Liesel’s adopted father and the first adult who wins Liesel’s trust. She softens to her and soon they’re almost inseparable, especially when he introduced her to reading. Also Hans is an amazing father figure.
8.) John Watson and Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle)
John and Sherlock. Sherlock and John. Need I say more? hehe…
9.) Hazel Camille Bradford and Josh Im (Josh and Hazel’s Guide to not Dating by Christina Lauren)
Sure these two had a happily ever after as lovers but they started as great friends. I love how they like and accept each other despite their differences. I love how true Hazel is and how understanding Josh is. And the fact that the story surrounded with the two of them helping each other find ‘the one’ through series of double dates. It was adorable.
10.) The Wallflowers (The Wallflowers Series by Lisa Kleypas)
One of my all-time favorite Historical Romance Book Series. The Wallflowers became friends in an unusual way. The four of them are all wallflowers in parties that they became friends and once they get to know each other, they really stick together. Even when they found their princes charming.
What do you think of my list? Let’s chat below.

I totally agree on Harry and Hermione. There is mutual respect and admiration between the two, and they complete each other as friends.

Recently I’ve seen a lot of buzz and mentions about ‘Evelyn Hugo,’ and Taylor’s books in general. I may have to check out what her books are all about! Glad to see Six of Crows on this list (it’s been on my TBR for WAAAY too long) and of course, John and Sherlock are the best. 🙂

Right? they should be in everyone’s list coz their relationship is really Platonic. They even became family when they got married but with no romance. 🙂 🙂 And me too, my chest tightens just thinking about Harry and Evelyn.. Their relationship is phenomenal.

100% agree. I try shoving this book at everyone. It’s one of those books that every reader should check out. That friendship is one of the reasons!

Agree… there’s more to friendship than the passion in Romantic relationship. 🙂 And thank you.

I hope your slump gets better soon! Harry and Hermione are a great team. They do complement each other’s strengths and make up for each other’s weaknesses.
