Hi Blisses,
It’s Day 11 of #blogmas and today I’ll be sharing you ten books from my 2018 TBR that I’m certain I won’t be reading anymore this year.
Through this post I’m hitting three birds with one stone. #Blogmas, Top 5 Tuesday and Top Ten Tuesday. Host of Top 5 Tuesday, Shanah @Bionic Book Worm is the one to thank for this topic. The original topic was “Books I Didn’t get to in 2018” and I just shortened the title to fit my planned post this month. And Jana of Top Ten Tuesday decided to make this day Freebie Tuesday which is perfect coz I can just make my topic similar to Top 5 Tuesday. 🙂
So here are ten books from my 2018 TBR I won’t be reading anymore (at least not this year)
1.) HP and The Cursed Child by John Tiffany
I really wanted to read this but got discouraged by bad reviews. Still, I can’t take it out of my TBR list because well, it’s a Harry Potter book.
2.) Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
This was recommended to me by at least 4 trusted friends but they were also aware of my mental health problems and I’m still sensitive with certain issues this book might have. They warned me, so I’m always hesitant to pick this up.
3.) Red Queen Series
Lol. I don’t have a reason why I haven’t read this one yet. I already have the copies, physical copies, and all I need to do I pick them up. So why indeed?
4.) It by Stephen King
Confession: I didn’t like all the film adaptations of this book and so I want to try the book. But whenever I try picking this up, I remember my dislike for the movies and ugh!!! I can’t bring myself to read it. Next year though, I’ll have a “King-a-thon” and this one is on top of my list.
5.) 1984 by George Orwell
I didn’t read any Classic book this year except for “Black Beauty” but it was a short one and a Childrens classic. Next year, I’m planning to read the “100 Classics to read before You die”.
I’m completely aware I already mentioned 2 readathons I’ll be doing next year. It’s because I’ think I’ll be reading much lesser books next year , less than the 200 books I’ve read this year, but I want to make every book I read counts. Thus the Stephen King books and Classic. They’re both personal readathons but if you guys want to join me, I’d love to read with you. 🙂
6.)Bird Box by Josh Malerman
Ugh, I really want to read this so bad. My friend, Nori loved his book so much and I’m intrigued. Then I watched the trailer of the Netflix Adaptation and I’m dead. It looks so good but I ran out of time this year.
7.) All S.J. Maas Books
I want to have all the physical copies before reading them all.
8.) The Silmarillion by J.R.R Tolkien
I binge watched The Hobbit and extended editions of Lord of the Rings 6 times this year and whenever I watch the films, I remember this book and think I’ll read it after. But then watching the films took me more than 20 hours and so I don’t have time reading anymore. Hehe…
9.) The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I promised myself, I’ll read this before the movie comes out. I don’t know what happened.
10.) Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
I forgot about this book. Seriously me. That’s ridiculous considering how excited I was for this book. 😦
I promise to read these books next year. Lol. I’m kidding, like I said earlier, I’ll be reading less next year coz I’ll be focusing on writing and editing my novel’s drafts. But maybe if my mood pushes me to read these books, I will.
So let’s chat. What do you think of these book?
Strangely 1984 is on my list this week but for completely different reasons.

Nice list! I keep telling myself I’ll read the Silmarillion someday but haven’t managed it yet. I want to read Escaping Houdini, but I’m behind and still need to read Hunting Prince Dracula. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

I’m the same with Escaping From Houdini. I own it but it’s as if it became invisible on my shelves for a hot second lol. Loved this post!

On your list The Hate U Give was my fav Lili! I took a rain check on Top 5 Tuesday today due to family circumstances but if I had to venture some choices I’d say City of Brass and I Stop Somewhere …among many others!

I heard nothing but good things about THUG. Hope I get to read it very soon.
I’ve heard of City of Brass but never really checked it out.. Will look into it, along with I Stop Somewhere. That title alone is intriguing. 🙂

I liked Red Queen. I started reading 1984 but couldn’t get into it. I have three books left to read in the Throne of Glass series, and I hope to finish that and ACOTAR next year.
Hope you’ll be able to get to them next year! And good luck with getting your novel ready! I’m working on mine too.
