2018 Moody Reads – Wrap Up (Blogmas #8)

Hi Blisses,

It’s Day 8 of #blogmas and I decided to share a wrap up of one of the reading challenges I joined in this year. It was a part of my plan to include wrap ups for my #blogmas posts.

I’m a mood reader just like most of you. ๐Ÿ™‚ Last January, I discovered this amazing reading challenge calledย Moody Reading Challengeย hosted by Dani fromย Perspective of a Writer. And even though I was already joining 5 reading challenge that time I didn’t hesitate to join. This reading challenge was made for me. ๐Ÿ™‚ And it feels like it was just last month I’m doing a TBR for this.

I didn’t really read most of the books I listed in my TBR post because MOOD READER. But I did read so many other books that fits the challenge. The rules was to choose some genres and then read new book or older books in each. I chose four genres.

1.) YA/Mental Health(serious;y though, most of YAs these days focus on Mental Health issues surrounding Teens)
2.)Romance/Adult
3.)Mystery/Thriller/crime
4.)Fantasy/Paranormal

Kindly click the titles to see my reviews of the books.

1.) YA/Mental Health

1.)ย Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
2.)ย The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
3.)ย Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
4.)ย Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

2.) Romance/Adult

1.)ย The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
2.)ย The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
3.)ย The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
4.)ย A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

3.) Mystery/Thriller/Crime

1.)ย The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
2.)ย The Escape by David Baldacci
3.)ย The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
4.)ย The Client by John Grisham

4.)Fantasy/Paranormal

1.)ย The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout
2.)ย The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
3.)ย Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young
4.)ย To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

I think it’s now safe to say that I’ve finished this challenge. ๐Ÿ™‚ 4 genres and 4 books in each might be meager but to be honest, this year, as of today, I’ve already read 181 books. That is according to Goodreads though I’ve actually finished most of the books in my Currently-Reading shelf. I just can’t list them as Read because my To-Be-Reviewed pile is getting overwhelming. hehe.

Also, for the first time in my life, I can say that I’ve read all the genres in a year. No kidding. I even started reading Non-Fiction this year. You guys, I’m so proud of myself. Sounds arrogant but this is a big deal for me and I need to be proud of myself. You have no idea how shitty my 2017 was because of my depression. I almost couldn’t function last year.

I’m getting emotional here so I’m saying bye for now.

Thank you for reading.

  1. This is great, Lili! It looks like you read some amazing books this year. And you have read almost 200 books!? Thatโ€™s incredible.

Also, I wanted to say thank you for reaching out to me earlier this year to help me understand some of the finer points of the book blogging world. You have been so helpful and encouraging to me, and I appreciate you so much! Sorry for being so sappy!! โ˜บ๏ธ

    1. My goodreads reading challenge is 200 books. ๐Ÿ™‚

And omg, I forgot about that… But now I remember telling you something in a DM about blogging. hehe. I was a newbie in blogging last year and someone helped me too, so I feel like I need to help others too. She told me about that thing in a DM too because I didn’t know too. I really love this community. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’– And please don’t apologize for anything. Sappy? lol. I’m still sappy even now. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… Also, I still can’t believe an entire year have passed already.

    1. Thank you. ๐Ÿ’– Simon isn’t really categorized as Mental, just YA. I just combined the YAs and YAs with Mental Health. But now that you mentioned Leah, let’s just pretend I did list all YAs with mental Health issues. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Lili!! YOU DID SO GOOD!! Reading all of sorts of genres in itself is such a positive achievement! And 4 in each is quite good too. The fact you hit 181 books read is so, so monumental too. It means you concentrated on reading through the year and that is such a great thing. โค I hope you try again in 2019 and exceed this years achievements.

    1. Hi Dani.. long time no chat. ๐Ÿ’– Thank you… I’m glad I somehow finished this challenge. If this challenge still on next year, of course I will join though I think i’ll read less books next year as I’d be focusing on editing the drafts of my books. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I will never forget Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Shame I still don’t have the second book. hehe.. and if you’re planning to read the 2 books with 7 in the titles, then you’re in for great reads next year. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Especially Evelyn Hugo. She’s phenomenal.

  4. The only one of these I’ve read is The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton (which I loved). Some of the others are on my wish list though.
